The Magic of Mandala Yoga School

This is what some of our 2017 Participants had to share about their experience after graduation…all responses were anonymous

There are many Teacher Training Programs out there, if a friend were considering yoga teacher training, how would you describe this training to them?

– I would let friends know that it is a training that they really need to commit to and be able to focus on. The reason is so that they really embrace what is being taught, rather than doing the minimum. The information taught is so important and interesting. I would also suggest to them to begin practicing yoga on a daily basis prior to the training in preparation for it.

– I would emphasize that it is really focused on learning to be a teach and not quite as much on history etc…which i think is a good thing but everyone is looking for something different. from what i’ve heard from others, it seems like this training is more unique in that way, so many people do not feel confident teaching and adjusting coming out of teacher training but i think all of us are confident and prepared. it was a very warm and accepting environment, no need to conform to certain diets or beliefs which was great. i liked getting direction from different teachers as well.AnonymousWell rounded, absolutely will prepare you to teach, will deepen your practice with these skills, will pique your interest in aspects of yoga (and life!) you have not considered your interest in, the BEST YTT program!

– I would describe it as practical/doable for anyone, especially those working a full time job during the traditional work week. I think, on average, 1 weekend a month is reasonable for most people. I would talk about how wonderfully knowledgeable and supportive the teachers are and how there is a clear focus/desire to ensure participants coming out of this program CAN TEACH. As opposed to learning a lot and teaching very little so the person has to figure it out after they are done and doing it in the real world. I would describe it as sometimes intense and intimidating but reinforce those involved want nothing but the best for us (students) and are willing to help along the way. I would describe it as a very personal journey which MYS understands and appreciates that it is a bit different for everyone.

– A very well-rounded program–a fine balance of topics pertaining to yoga and teaching. So awesome that you have practice teaching so early on. If you truly want to teach–this is the program for you. Gets you into the “seat of the teacher” much earlier than other programs. The teachers are amazing and so well-qualified. You get knowledge about many topics but it’s not overdone. There will always be more to learn, but this training sparks your interest in many areas without disregarding why you’re there—-to learn to teach.

Now that the “formal” training is over, how do you feel you changed as a teacher from Day 1 to now (post-graduation)?

– Day 1 I only had an idea of the physical part of yoga and mindfulness. Beyond this, I was not aware of the foundations. Now, knowing that it is a way of living, I am more inspired to teach and actually apply the whole aspect of yoga.

– I am more inspired to teach. at the start of the program i did want to teach but i also wanted to do the training for myself because i was not sure if i would be a good teacher. now i definitely want to share all that i’ve learned with others!

– I am more confident. I’m better able to look at the bodies in front of me and teach vs. lead. I am more inspired to teach!

– When I started the program I didn’t necessarily plan to teach. I wanted a deeper and more focused understanding of yoga. After completing the teacher training, however, I do plan to teach albeit very part time. I feel much more confident, prepared and inspired to be able to share and exposure others to the beautiful gift that is yoga.

– I have definitely changed in how I feel about teaching. I came into this program wanting to deepen my practice and learn as much as I could for my own sake because I love yoga so much. What I have come away with after graduation is a confidence and desire to share yoga with others because I really can!!! It has been a time of self discovery for me—seeing my capabilities and knowledge grow. I’ve seen a big improvement in my own practice as well–I am learning to pay more attention to each pose and to really activate my body completely. It is a new perspective and I’m so grateful to have been taught to realize this. I was so afraid to get in front of people in our practice teaching, but by doing this regularly, I’m so much more confident in what I can do. Going out of the comfort zone is scary—-but good!!!
